EarthGirl Luana, what makes you an EarthGirl?
I believe that with love and respect we can make a better society, country and even world. This is the reason I contribute as much as I can everyday to make the world a better place and live through my actions. Love and kindness are the principles I live by.

When did you become aware and fall in love with our planet and what did you do next?
I have always felt a special connection with Mother Earth. I feel inspired and connected with all natural areas like forests, beaches, listening to the sound of the wind and observing animals. I understand that human beings are a very small part of nature but have the power to create and destroy. Because of this understanding from a very young age, I have dedicated myself to creating love not only for other people, but in my dedication to Mother Earth.

What do you think is a simple change anyone can make to be more green?
One example is to use reusable bags as much as possible (carry them in your car if you drive). We should be conscious of our use of water and electricity and turn it off when unnecessary. We should choose products with less packaging and pick eco-friendly products. There should be more reuse of paper for notes instead of constantly reaching for new ones all the time. A very important option is to walk and use bicycles more. We can help others to be more green with little actions.

What eco-aware product do you use or wear regularly?
Simply Divine Botanicals deodorant, Nature’s Gate skin and shower products, Green Works house cleaning products.

Picture this, you’re trapped on an island, with a tree that only grows one product. What is it?
Coconuts!!!

What are your daily earth-friendly actions?
I am vegetarian. I turn off the tap when I’m brushing my teeth. I take short showers. I buy fruits and vegetables locally as much as possible. I use natural skin care products. I ride my bicycle to nearby places instead of driving. I turn off the lights and unplug my electronics when not using them and at night. I use eco-friendly house cleaning products. I use reusable bags for everything, and reuse plastic ones. I don’t have TV at home, and don’t feel I need one!

I try to be conscious everyday about not only Mother Earth but human beings. I try to think of how we can become better people and happier with our actions.

Are you working on anything that we should know about that’s positively impacting our planet and its people?
I founded the Free Yoga Foundation which is a yoga program that provides free yoga classes for the public. We represent a beautiful group of yoga teachers with the intention of creating a more balanced community. We affirm our commitment as an agent for positive social change within our communities and in our environment at large. I am also a volunteer teaching yoga to a blind organization. I took it upon myself to create a better “Luana” and to influence others to do so by teaching yoga and pilates with my philosophy.

Make a wish! (Something. Anything.)
I wish that I could travel around the world working in special social programs, helping, learning, and growing. I wish everyone would find the power that resides within and love themselves; when we love ourselves we can love others.

Do EarthGirlz really have more fun?
As we become more aware of our actions, words and thoughts we use our power to create; Earthgirlz create joy and everything they want for their lives. Being healthy – physically and emotionally – is not only fun, but a blessing… Life is so good!

What Kooky or interesting fun-facts should our viewers know about you?
I still sleep every night with my baby blanket that was given to me when I was born….. and it cures any sickness. I’m addicted to smiling, it makes me happy, and I always receive a smile back – what can be better?!
