EarthGirl Lula: Our Next Generation

25 October 2011 One Comment

What makes you an EarthGirl?
I am an EarthGirl in many ways. I recycle, compost, and do anything I can to save the environment. I still go to school, hang out with my friends, and do all the regular kid stuff, but it’s the little things that add up, like bringing my own napkin to school, picking up trash on the sidewalk, and trying to eat as little meat as possible.

Please tell our readers what you’re working on that’s positively impacting our planet and its people.
I am currently working on a recipe book for kids that is raw and vegan, and includes environmental tips too. This way we are spreading the word to the next generation. Once it is completed I hope to speak to other kids about the choices they make and show them the power they have to change the world.

Who or what has inspired you to do amazing things?
When I hear the astounding statistics about the problems in the world, it inspires me to spread the message of healing our planet.

What environmental cause would you like to promote with your image?
I would like to promote animal rights. I strongly believe in fairness in every which way possible. Animals and humans alike.

When did you become aware of how magnificent our planet is, and the power of human action with Her?
When I was nine or ten, my mom introduced me to paying attention to our planet and how we affect it with every choice we make. I had never really thought about it before then.

Do you have any earth-friendly rituals you’d like to share with us?
I ride my bike as often as I can and spend a lot of time in nature. I shop at the farmers market with my mom too, and I walk to school.

What earth-friendly products do you love?
I use organic lipbalm and sometimes make my own. I also wear lots of vintage clothing.

What change would you like to make, that would help our planet in some way, that you haven’t made already?
I want to promote more bikes, walking, and even electric cars. Asking my parents to drive less as well.

What do you think is an important change that consumers and corporations should make TODAY for a better world tomorrow?
There is a lot of talk about that exact matter down on Wall Street right now. I think that it should definitely start with consumers. We need to be more conscious of the things we do. We need to teach people how to care for the environment. I’m not sure about the corporations. I just think they should be fair.

What one thing has someone said about you that has made you feel proud and accomplished?
Hearing that I work hard and that I really care about what I do. That definitely makes me feel proud.

What obstacles do you encounter and how do you break through them?
Growing up is a sort of obstacle for me. I overcome it by staying a kid by painting my face and dressing up often.

Do EarthGirlz really have more fun?
Of course! You have more fun when you know that everything you do is not hurting the environment.

Can you share a little something more with our EarthGirlz readers?
I crochet. Kind of off topic and weird but cool I guess. I make people my own gifts instead of buying them.

You’re trapped on an island with a tree that only grows one thing. What is it?
I would pick a tree that grows people. I know it seems kind of creepy, but that way I wouldnt get lonely and there are lots of things humans can accomplish together. And it can be ANYTHING right?

Okay, make your Earthgirlz wish…
I wish for a world where every girl is an EarthGirl!
